How can I create a strong password?

Here are a few tips on how to create a strong password:

1. Use at least 6 characters and a combination of letters (uppercase and lowercase) as well as numbers. (Example: jEsT3r420)
2. Do not use single words that can be easily guessed. (Example: cash, citibank)
3. Do not use your name, your spouse's name, your pet's name, birthday, favourite food, or any personal information that others can easily obtain. (Example: fido, pizza)
4. Do not use a password that contains a part of your Online User ID or email address.

In addition to creating a strong password, it is important to protect it. Here are a few ways to increase the effectiveness of security:
1. Make your password memorable. Pick something you'll remember. If you do need to write it down, make sure it's kept in a safe location and not available to anyone but you. Also, since this will be the password you need to access your accounts, take the time to think of a good and strong one.
2. Change your password periodically. Make sure to change your password from time to time to reduce the chance of someone getting hold of your account. If you ever suspect that someone may have your password, don't take any chances and change it immediately.
3. Never share your password.  No one representing Citibank will ever ask for your password. You should also never give it to anyone who asks for it via e-mail, phone or any other medium - even if they say they are from Citibank.
4. Always sign off. End your session securely by selecting "Sign Off" in the top right corner of your screen and then closing the browser window - especially if you are logged in at a public place.
5. Keep your browser updated. If a security update becomes available, always install it for added protection.
